Outfit your camper for cheap on Temu

If you are outfitting your camper or RV for the first time, or looking for a refresh, you probably have experienced how expensive it can be to buy all of the things you need! The online shopping portal Temu is a great place to start.

I know when I first bought my ALiner camper it was a little overwhelming how much gear I needed and how much money I needed to spend just to have a comfortable weekend of camping. Especially the gear I like to have when camping in Alaska.

When we’re camping, we don’t necessarily need the best gear since we usually won’t be living in the camper. So, for some items, you can sacrifice on quality to reduce the overall cost to outfit your camper.

A new online store, Temu, has emerged that has insane deals on thousands of products that can come in handy for your camper or RV. You’ll likely get what you pay for, but who really cares for items that aren’t critical to your safety or comfort while camping like new covers for your camper’s sofa cushions.

I recently asked members of a large camper group on Facebook what some of their favorite items they have bout from Temu for their camper or RV. I’ve compiled their top responses below as well as some of their comments on their experience using Temu.

What is Temu?

Temu is an online marketplace that sells a wide variety of products at insanely low prices. While it seems too good to be true, most customers have a lot of positive things to say about their experience shopping through the site. But be aware of some of the controversy surrounding the company.

The Temu app was launched in 2022 and is available in over 15 markets worldwide. Temu is operated by Shanghai-based company PDD Holdings Inc. Temu ships most of its products directly to consumers from China.

What are Camper Owners Saying about Temu?

Below are a few of the responses camper and RV owners gave about their experience using Temu.

I have ordered from them 5+ times and no issues, even did a return with them and no problems. It’s fairly cheap quality but works. Just expect everything to be slightly cheaper than Walmart quality, but great prices.

C. Hayman

I’ve ordered so much stuff from there and never had any issues with them.

C. Shaw

I ordered those amazingly strong super magnets for our pop up. Way cheaper than Lowe’s … if you can even find them half the time.

T. Carlson

I’ve had zero issues. I’ve ordered an embarrassing amount of times. Gets delivered every time. Once late and an automatic $5 credit was on my account

C. Venhuizen

Tons of storage stuff, decals for the pop up, wheel cover … the list goes on.

R. Sykes

I have ordered over 20x. No problem ever. Free shipping always. If item isn’t available they refund, they give credits. All around I think they are amazing.

Summary

Temu has taken the internet by storm over the last year because of the variety of cheap goods for sale there. With free shipping, free returns, and the ability to get a refund of the difference in price if you find it listed for lower within 30 days, it’s no wonder.

Given that the price for gear to outfit RVs and campers can be quite expensive (I learned this when outfitting my ALiner), Temu is a great option.

But, you should be aware of a few concerns people have about Temu. First, given that the company is based in China, many people are concerned that there might be some issues about the company having access to too much of your personal information, similar to discussions about Tik Tok. I’m not sure how much truth there is to this, but it’s always a good idea to use a VPN service like NordVPN (I’ve used them a lot and it works great).

The bigger issue that people have raised about Temu is that there is a chance they use forced labor in China and that is why their prices are able to be so low. That’s not an insignificant accusation, so be sure to consider that before ordering anything from Temu, or do additional research to determine for yourself.

Setting aside these concerns, if your primary concern is getting your new camper or RV outfitted, then Temu could be a good option for you to consider.
